Leading European football club Barcelona FC will host two soccer clinics for children in Israel and the West Bank in August, in order to “promote peace between Israelis and Palestinians through the values of sport,” the club announced on Wednesday.
The visit will feature Barcelona’s leading players, including Lionel Messi, regarded as one of the best players to ever play the game.
In February, the team announced that it would play an exhibition match against a team comprised of Israeli and Palestinian players but that plan was put on hold after the Palestinians announced their objection to the plan.
