Barcelona soccer team to host Israelis and Palestinians

Leading European football club Barcelona FC will host two soccer clinics for children in Israel and the West Bank in August, in order to “promote peace between Israelis and Palestinians through the values of sport,” the club announced on Wednesday.

The visit will feature Barcelona’s leading players, including Lionel Messi, regarded as one of the best players to ever play the game.

In February, the team announced that it would play an exhibition match against a team comprised of Israeli and Palestinian players but that plan was put on hold after the Palestinians announced their objection to the plan.

Meet Liz Vanun , the coordinator of the Jewish-Israeli Delegation from Zvulun High school

My name is Liz Vanun and I am an English teacher at Carmel Zvulun Regional High School, which is situated near Haifa, in Kibbutz Yagur. I was born in Amsterdam, Holland and moved to Israel when I was twenty years old. Though I have lived in Israel ever since, I have had the opportunity to spend time in many other countries; I love to travel, meet new people and their culture. Israel, being a melting pot of so many different cultures, is therefore the perfect place for me.
I am both honored and excited about having been given the opportunity
to be part of a delegation that represents our country in such a
wonderful and important program. I strongly believe that meeting each
other, exchanging different, and often opposite views, are essential in
the attempt to get a better understanding of each other. It is not enough
to talk about peace; actual steps must be taken to attain what we all
want. The 4Peace camp is a great opportunity to lay the foundation for
better understanding, better communication and empathy for the pain
and loss of the other side.
I am looking forward to meeting everyone and hope that, alongside the
differences, we will be able to look beyond them and discover that we
have far more in common than we initially thought.

3. Dominika Hajdu

Hi! My name is Dominika Hajdu. I go to a chemistry-biology class. I have two cats at home. A 6 year-old boy and a 3 year-old girl. I love playing with them. During the Hungarian school I was going to a Polish also.
In my free time I like reading. For a sport I horse ride and sometimes I wall climb. In the new school year I’m going to join to the school’s choir.
Peace.I think it’s complex. At first you need to have that at your personality. If your health and your soul is fine at the same time, you’ll be fine. If you’re fine, you’ll see the world in better colour. If you have the balance at you, you can concentrate to the other people. You have to try to have harmonic contacts and friendships. To live in peace we have to adapt for the others and make compromises. And it’s so hard. Most of people just see yourself and not considered to the others needs. We have to make sacrifices. And we have to learn that. That way is so exhausting and difficult but it’s worth to do.
